Wind Mitigation Inspection
A wind mitigation inspection, or windstorm inspection, is a specialty inspection that determines how wind resistant a home is. Pillar To Post Home Inspectors™ perform wind mitigation inspections.
Why Is Wind Resistance
A Concern?
Strong winds, such as those experienced in hurricanes, have the potential to cause significant damage to a home. A more wind-resistant home is less likely to be damaged by windstorms, and may qualify for significant reductions in home insurance premiums.
Which Homes Should Have A Wind
Mitigation Inspection?
In areas affected by hurricanes and hail, insurance companies often provide discounts on premiums for homes with features that increase their wind resistance. In some states, these discounts are mandated by law. Qualifying for these discounts requires a professional wind mitigation inspection report. If your home does not have these features, such as improved roof-to-wall attachments or a secondary water barrier under he roofing, a wind mitigation report can identify what improvements can be made.
